Mitsubishi XR-PHEV Concept: The Next RVR

Published on December 1, 2013 in News by Gilles Olivier

At the Tokyo Auto Show, Mitsubishi unveiled three concepts, namely the GC- PHEV, XR-PHEV and AR.

The XR- PHEV concept is seen as the source of development for the next version of the RVR compact SUV. Something to note is that the RVR is called the ASX in European markets while in the United States, it is called the Outlander Sport.

All this is to say that the next Mitsubishi RVR will likely inherit sleeker lines of the XR- PHEV concept.

In the concept, the driver's seat is red, while the others are black. We also can discern that the dashboard and center console are oriented towards the driver.

PHEV

Under the hood of the Mitsubishi XR-PHEV concept, there is a plug-in hybrid powertrain similar to the Outlander PHEV.

Its naturally aspirated engine is a 1.1 -litre turbocharged three-cylinder direct injection which delivers 136 horses. It is mated with a 163 horsepower electric motor.

The front wheel drive vehicle can travel up to 84 km in all-electric mode.
