SAIC Wins the 2013 L.A. Design Challenge

The Los Angeles Auto Show features not only the unveiling of a multitude of new models or concepts, but also the LA Design Challenge which is a competition between different design studios belonging to various automakers.

This year there were 12 projects presented to the organizers of this colorful event under the theme Biomimicry and Mobility 2015.

The Concepts Were as Follows:

BMW L.A. Subways
BMW Efficient Sustainable Exploratory Device (SEED)
Changfeng " LaBrea "
JAC Harmonious Eco -Friendly Efficient Infrastructure ( HEFEI )
Mazda AUTO ADAPT
Qoros Silk Road System
SAIC Roewe Mobiliant
Subaru SUBA - ROO
Toyota e- grus

Add to these some other projects by Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and Nissan.

SAIC wins top honors

Chinese automaker Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC ) won the top honors for this year’s competition.

Called "Mobiliant", this very unusual project car has an ant-like silhouette. The single-seater urban vehicle was designed to be used primarily in a carsharing mode.
