Ford Will Delay Production of the 2015 F-150

According to the website Truth About Cars, the launch of the 2015 Ford F-150 will be delayed by three months.

In an effort to offer a lighter, more economical truck, Ford engineers had planned to integrate aluminum body panels. Unfortunately the flexibility of the panels has given some at Ford pause and, as a result, the American giant is very seriously considering delaying the production of the decades-running most popular vehicle in North America to sort things out.

This more generous use of aluminum would reduce the weight of the truck by 317 kilos (700 lb) compared to the current model.

The Atlas concept

Last January, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Ford unveiled its Atlas concept, which was to serve as basis for the development of the next version of the F-150 truck.
