Nissan Sport Sedan Concept: The Next Maxima

Published on January 3, 2014 in Detroit by Gilles Olivier

Nissan has unveiled a new Sport Sedan Concept in Detroit which hints at what the upcoming 2015 Maxima will resemble when it’s released later this year.

Nissan calls the design “V-Motion” and applies sports car characteristics to sedans or crossovers. Boomerang-shaped lights, a lowered stance and a floating roof are among the features that stand out.

The concept comes with a 300 horsepower 3.5-litre V6 that puts power to the front wheels. The setup is matted to Nissan’s Xtronic CVT.

The seventh generation of the Nissan Maxima, now on sale in showrooms around the world, is due for a major overhaul and all indications are that the next generation version of Nissan’s mid-size sedan will be unveiled in ten days during the Detroit Auto Show.

The Nissan Sport Sedan Concept is a good indicator of what the future holds for Nissan sports sedans.

Meanwhile, the Japanese brand has released a teaser of the front section of the car in development, proudly sporting a more refined grille and more tapered headlights.

The future Nissan Maxima would likely benefit from the same tireless 3.5-litre V6 engine but tweaked to make it both more powerful and more economical.
