Ford Abandons Microsoft for BlackBerry

It's no secret that Ford knows the many shortcomings of its SYNC system, which is currently managed by the Windows operating system from Microsoft. It has caused the American manufacturer to look elsewhere to source software for the next release of the SYNC multimedia system.

We have just learned that Ford is about to go all in on the QNX operating system by Canadian company BlackBerry.

The use of the QNX BlackBerry technological approach will allow Ford to reap cost savings compared to the old Microsoft-based system. In addition, the flexibility and the speed of the current SYNC will be improved.

More than 7 million Ford vehicles are currently equipped with the SYNC system.
