Subaru VIZIV 2: A Concept With Eyes on the Future

Published on March 6, 2014 in Geneva by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

Subaru has just launched a concept in Geneva. It’s called the VIZIV 2, and it represents where the brand wants to go in terms of style. It may also spawn a CUV at some point. The VIZIV 2 follows Subaru’s most recent concepts, the SUBARU VIZIV CONCEPT presented in Chicago in 2013, and the SUBARU VIZIV EVOLUTION CONCEPT shown in Tokyo the same year.

The concept is a 4-door (the rear doors extend and slide back) and is powered by a 1.6 liter Boxer engine, helped by an electric motor fitted between the engine and the CVT transmission. There are also two electric motors in the back, each powering a wheel. The VIZIV 2 is then theoretically a 4 wheel drive car, even if the petrol engine does not send power to the rear wheels.

The CUV also pioneers a new technology for Subaru: a new generation of the EyeSight system. Using a stereo camera, it can "see" which lane the car is in, help in a turn or even avoid an obstacle if the driver doesn’t react fast enough.

You can admire the VIZIV 2 in Geneva all week.
