Honda Registers the Name HR-V

Honda has filed to trademark the name HR-V in the USA, hinting at what the name could be for a new urban SUV in the works.

We got a glimpse of that car at the 2013 North American International Auto Show when Honda brought a concept simply called the Urban SUV to the show. The Urban SUV would enter their lineup just below the CR-V. This new Honda would face off against other compact SUVs such as the Nissan Juke, Chevrolet Trax, MINI Countryman and the recently unveiled Jeep Renegade. Infiniti has confirmed production of an upscale urban SUV called the Q30 and the segment is sure to get busier in the coming years with other potential offerings from Audi, Volkswagen, Cadillac, Hyundai and Toyota.

The choice of engine will likely be a turbocharged 1.5-litre VTEC using a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
