Even More Power for the Ford F-Series Super Duty

Ford just hit the competition hard in the HD truck war. For 2015, the 6.7 liter Power Stroke Turbodiesel V8 engine will pack even more power. 40 HP and 60 lb/ft of torque more, to be exact. This brings the total to 440 HP, and an eye-watering 860 lb/ft of torque. 

To extract so much power out of the Power Stroke, Ford’s engineers installed a bigger turbo, and they mounted it between the cylinder banks. This means less piping around the engine, and therefore less turbo lag.

The F-450 can now tow 31200 lbs (14152 kg), and the gross combined weight rating is now 40000 lbs (18143 kg).

For the F-350, a towing option packages bring the towing capacity to 26500 lbs (12202 kg) and the gross combined weight rating is now up to 35000 lbs (15875 kg).

The chassis have also been strengthened to allow those dramatic towing capacity increases. They are now equipped with 19.5 inch wheels, new leaf spring suspensions, bigger front and rear stabilizer bars, stronger steering gears and linkage and bigger brake discs.
