BMW X4 Debut Set For New York Auto Show

The all-new 2014 BMW X4 will debut at the New York Auto Show April 16th. Also at the show will be the 4 Series Gran Coupe, Concept X5 eDrive and updated BMW X3 LCI (Life Cycle Update).

As we reported before, the final details and the definitive form of the X4 were presented in Geneva. The new vehicle takes the successful recipe of the X6 and adapts it to a smaller package. For this particular application, it’s the X3 that is being used as a donor car.

All X4 models will use the xDrive all-wheel drive system, which splits torque between all four wheels in real time. The 8-speed Steptronic transmission will be used in all versions, except the X4 xDrive 20d. The latter is a nice little diesel model with a 6-speed manual transmission, but this version has virtually no chance of coming here. The North American engine lineup will likely be the same as the X3, which means a 4 cylinder turbo developing 240 horsepower, and the turbo inline 6 pumping out 300 hp.
