BMW presents its plug-in hybrid SUV Concept, the X5 eDrive, at the New York Auto Show.

Visually identical to the 2013 X5 eDrive Concept shown in Frankfurt, the American-bound version promises to be more refined, according to BMW.

The eDrive features multiple blue accents, like a slim stripe on the front bumper and multiple interior trim pieces. A window has been placed in the rear cargo area, so people can admire the battery pack. The vehicle also features unique 21 inch wheels.

Powering this X5 is a 4 cylinder engine producing 240 HP, mated to an electric motor good for another 90 HP. With this configuration, the eDrive can go 30 km without firing up the engine, or it can use the combination of gas and electric motors to sip only 3.8 liters of fuel over 100 kilometers.
