Land Rover Announces a Partnership with Virgin Galactic

During the unveiling of the Discovery Concept, Land Rover took the opportunity to announce its partnership with the space exploration firm Virgin Galactic.

The presentation took place on the bridge of the USS Enterprise, a decommissioned aircraft carrier. Once aboard, journalists could admire Land Rover’s new concept, parked right beside a full-size replica of SpaceShipTwo, the first commercial-flight spaceship.

Land Rover will supply a vehicle fleet to Virgin Galactic, which will be used to transport future astronauts to the test center in the Mojave Desert, California, and around the operational center, in New Mexico.

Both companies also offer a scholarship program to encourage young people to take up careers in engineering and science.

If you want to admire the SpaceShipTwo replica, it will be on display from April 15 to 22 aboard the USS Enterprise. The real-life model will be shown alongside other relics of human flight, like the space shuttle, NASA’s orbiter, which preceded the space shuttle program, and the record-breaking commercial plane, the Concorde.
