The prizes from the World Car Award association reward new cars that distinguished themselves during the year.

For 2014, the announcements were made at the New York Auto Show, and here are the winners:

The Green Car Award goes to the BMW i3. This is confusing, since the car is Orange…

The Design Award also goes to the BMW i3, with its unique look.

The Performance Car Award is won by the Porsche 911 GT3. While the competition was hot (Chevrolet Corvette and Ferrari 458 Speciale), the Porsche proved to be the biggest flame among them, showing that the Germans can still produce a fiery sports car!

The Luxury Car Award went to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, unsurprisingly. It is a supremely refined limousine, capable of ferrying its (rich) owners around in unbelievable comfort.

And the World Car of the Year Award goes to… The Audi A3! It revolutionized the luxury compact segment, and is worthy of this title.
