VW Joins in on the Great Spring of Recalls

Did you think we were done with all these recalls? Thanks to Volkswagen, we are not! The Germans just confirmed that about 26,000 cars need to go back to the dealership to be repaired. If not, the owners risk fiery problems.

The Wolfsburg manufacturer ordered the recall of 26,452 2014 Jettas, Beetles and Passats equipped with the 1.8T engine coupled with a torque converter automatic transmission (cars with the DSG are not affected). According to reports, an O-ring between the transmission and the oil cooler can leak fluid onto some hot exhaust parts, causing a fire hazard.

This recall comes after a no-sale order that VW issued to dealerships on April 8, asking them to stop selling some vehicles while they were running tests about the problem.

So far, no self-immolating cars have been reported.
