Porsche 911 GT3 Recall: Not Everyone is Equal…

Published on April 25, 2014 in News by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

A couple months ago, some 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 owners had a nasty surprise: under normal driving conditions, their car would suddenly catch on fire and burn to the ground. The problem was quickly found (a bolt holding the conrod would loosen up, punching a hole into the engine block. This would cause oil to drip on hot exhaust parts), and the German manufacturer asked those owners not to drive their cars until the issue was solved. Porsche finally chose to replace more than 800 engines in all those vehicles.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the end of the story. Now, a group of owners feel they are treated unfairly by Porsche. According to them, the financial compensation offered while their car is in the shop varies from country to country. An American reported being offered $2000 a month for renting a car, while a resident of the UAE received almost 3 times that sum. Even worse, owners living in the UK receive nothing.

According to the owner’s group, the problem is not about the money, they wants to make sure everyone who had a problem with its GT3 is treated equally, regardless of where they come from.
