The HondaJet Will be Available in 2015
Those of you who closely follow Honda news will remember one of their most ambitious projects: to design, build and sell a small, economical and cheap private jet.
Classified as a VLJ (Very Light Jet), the HondaJet can carry 4-6 passengers, and should be 35 to 40% more economical than its competitors. It is also much faster, with a cruising speed of 725 km/h. The market is ripe for this type of plane, since a lot of prospective buyers don’t have the need for a $10+ million, 15-passenger Learjet. Even better, the air taxi business is booming, with hundreds of start-up companies popping up each year. The HondaJet is catering to these markets, with a relatively-cheap $4.5 million USD price tag.
The first flight was completed in 2003, but the recession delayed the release of the HondaJet. Later, mishaps by the engine suppliers almost shut the project down. Honda seems to have solved those problems, and deliveries should start in 2015. The sales booklet is full, with over a hundred prospective buyers who are already eager to soar in the skies in their Honda!
