Michael Schumacher is out of Coma

Good news coming out of Grenoble this morning: after 5 months spent fighting for his life, Michael Schumacher is now officially out of his coma!

In a statement released this morning, the spokesperson for the Schumacher family, Sabine Kehm, said that Michael was conscious and had been moved from the intensive care unit where he had been since his accident in December. She did not say where he was now, stating that the family wanted to continue his rehabilitation with more privacy.

It was reported a few months back that a large rehab facility had been installed in the family's main house, at Lake Geneva.

This is excellent news, especially since patients who have been in a coma for so long rarely get out without major issues. While the ex-Formula 1 champion likely still has a long road ahead of him, this is a step in the right direction.

Congratulations Michael, and Godspeed!
