Brake Problems for Subaru
Do you own a Subaru manufactured between 2005 and 2014? Does it have trouble braking? Don't worry, there's a recall for that!
The Japanese automaker issued a recall for the majority of its sedans made in the last 10 years. Specifically, the 2005-2009 Legacy, 2008-2011 Impreza, 2005-2009 Outback, 2009-2013 Forester and 2008-2014 WRX/STI. On these vehicles, the central brake lines may get corroded and perforate. This will diminish braking power and can cause a crash.
About 100,000 Canadian vehicles are targeted by this recall. Subaru's technicians will examine the underside of the cars, and replace the brake lines if they are rusted. If not, they will apply a rustproofing solution.
On one hand, it is weird to see Subaru, a manufacturer known for its excellent winter capabilities, exhibit rust problems on cars that are one or two years old.
On the other, a 2005 Legacy is a much more likely candidate for corrosion, since it was made a decade ago...
