How Many HP Does the 2015 Ford Mustang Have?

In the ongoing 'Horsepower War', Dodge is currently ahead with its 707 HP Challenger SRT Hellcat. But in the shadows, Ford fans have been waiting for their manufacturer's announcement of the 2015 Mustang's power figures, secretly hoping that they would have a secret weapon to take on Dodge. Well, the numbers have been made public, and I have bad news for the Blue Oval's afficionados: your pony doesn't have what it takes to beat Mopar's demonic feline... Yet.

However, this does not mean that the Mustang is not an attractive offer, far from it! Here are the official specs:

First of all, the base-model V6 Mustang comes with 300 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque. If you know your Fords, you have realized that this is less than the outgoing model had with the same engine...

If you are looking for more power (and better weight distribution), you will prefer the Ecoboost Mustang, powered by a 2.3 litre 4-cylinder engine. With the addition of a turbocharger, this small mill produces 310 HP and an impressive 320 lb-ft of torque. And, we can speculate that the engineers have not extracted all the power from this engine, meaning that tuners will no doubt come out with performance packages for it.

But the Mustang would not be complete without a good old V8. For 2015, the 5 litre Coyote engine comes back, albeit with a lot of upgrades developed from the Boss 302 program. It now churns out 435 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque, which is 15 HP and 20 lb-ft more than the current model.

Whichever engine you choose, it can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a paddle-shifted automatic with the same number of cogs.
