Finally, A More Powerful Toyobaru!

Since the little sport coupe from Toyota and Subaru (sold here as the Scion FR-S) came out, critics have been unanimous: it drives like a dream, handling is almost perfect, it’s reasonably priced… But we would like a few extra ponies under the hood. The manufacturers finally decided to hear our prayers, and they will roll out a Toyota GT86 with 250 horsepower!

The sad thing is, it is not road-legal, and can only be used in rallying, more specifically in the R3 Class.

That is a bummer, but the car itself is still pretty interesting: the increase in power comes from a more aggressive camshaft, a different computer mapping, a better compression ratio and an HJS racing exhaust.

The car also comes with a 6-speed sequential gearbox and a limited-slip differential, which should allow some nice slides on dirt roads. The Toyota is also equipped with a safety rollcage, which is mandatory for rallying.

We will be able to see it for the first time in August, at the ninth round of the World Rally Championship, where it will be used as an official vehicle.
