The Lexus IS F Is MIA

In 2006, Lexus surprised the world by unveiling a supercar and a high-performance sedan side-by-sides (the LFA and the IS F, respectively). For the first time, we saw that Lexus could build sport cars, not just comfortable and boring vehicles!

The IS F was supposed to take on the M3 sedan. For this purpose, it was designed to be as aggressive as possible: lowered sport suspension, raised hood, aggressive bodykit, quad exhaust, 8-speed automatic gearbox and a 5 litre V8 pumping out 416 horsepower and 371 lb-ft. of torque. This engine was massaged by Yamaha's Formula One engine division, which explains its power figures (and melodious sounds).

This sporty Japanese sedan has been out since 2007. With the restyling of the new IS, and the unveiling of the new RC coupes, we had to expect that the IS F would either disappear or be renewed. Sadly, the first option was chosen, and production was stopped a few months ago.

If you were waiting for a good time to buy one, now would be the perfect time: the few remaining in dealer showrooms will be heavily discounted, and with a total production run of 11,000 units, finding one used will probably be difficult.
