Tesla Will Open a Store In Montreal

Californian automaker Tesla will open one of its proprietary stores in Montreal.

Tesla has a different way of selling its cars compared to the other manufacturers. They operate their own stores, cutting the dealers out of the equation. Customers typically order their vehicle through the Internet, and then they take delivery and complete their paperwork at the store. This is controversial, since regular dealerships feel threatened, and rightly so.

Up until now, Tesla operated a small service point in Laval, where you could test-drive a Model S and have repairs performed on your electric car.

The new store will be right in Montreal, more precisely on Ferrier Street, in Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. The building is an old dealership, and will become one of the largest Tesla stores in North America with an area of 45,000 square feet.

The location is a really good one, since there are already other luxury dealerships in the area, including Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar and Rolls-Royce, among others.

This new store will be equipped with 10 work stations for car repairs, a large showroom and an indoor garage to store vehicle inventory.

While Tesla's sales are somewhat slow in Quebec right now (about 250 are currently registered) the launch of the Model III will certainly drive them upward, since this new car will be sold between $30,000 and $40,000.
