The Governator’s Unimog Is For Sale
Arnold Schwarzenegger does not drive small cars: he made his reputation behind the wheel of the Hummer H1 Alpha before buying an M48 Patton tank (not the most subtle means of transportation, but wonderful in a traffic jam!). He recently bought a Unimog, which is a huge off-road vehicle built by Mercedes-Benz. It would seem that the ex-governor is ready to drive something else (maybe a six-wheeled G-Class?), since this big truck is now for sale.
It started its career as a 1977 vehicle, more specifically the U1300 6.4 model. It is registered to drive in California, and received a complete restoration in 2013. Currently, it sports a 6.4 litre diesel engine producing around 320 horsepower. Arnie equipped his off roader with a slew of equipment, like air suspension, a push bar, backup camera, remote-controlled winch, trailer brake module, roll cage, auxiliary lighting, a flatbed and a rear-facing bench seat with room for three.
If this vehicle sounds like the perfect grocery-getter to you, be prepared to pay for it. The MEREX society, which is in charge of selling the Unimog, is currently asking $300,000 for it…
