HSV Maloo GTS: The Ultimate Delivery Vehicle
Australians have access to a lot of cars that we will never see on our roads. The most notable are the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon. Not only are they offered in sedan and wagon flavors, but they can also be ordered as utes. Basically the best of both worlds, the ute is built on a car frame and features a rear bed, just like a pickup truck. They are more or less the modern interpretation of the El Camino and Ranchero of yore. GM's Holden division just unveiled the new fastest member of this dying breed: the HSV Maloo GTS.
The more observant readers will notice that this ute looks a lot like the Chevrolet SS sedan, and for good reason: both vehicles are essentially the same!

The Maloo GTS has been fitted with a 6.2L LSA engine (same as the Cadillac CTS-V) capable of sending 585 horses out the rear wheels through a six-speed manual (an automatic is also available, in case you hate the notion of having fun). All this power is kept on the road with the help of a sport suspension, high-performance brakes and a limited-slip differential.
The styling of the vehicle matches its ridiculous power, with a more aggressive front clip, a lockable tonneau cover and a quad exhaust.
Australia will receive 240 units of the Maloo GTS, and New-Zealand will have to make-do with 10. As for the rest of the world, we can at least look at the pictures...
