Bisimoto Is Back With Hyundai For The 2014 SEMA Show

Published on September 23, 2014 in SEMA by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

We remember last year’s SEMA Show, where a relatively unknown tuner named Bisimoto presented a 1000 horsepower, twin-turbo Hyundai Genesis (and a Honda Odyssey minivan with the same output). It seems that they won’t try to break into the 4-digit horsepower ratings this year, and they will concentrate their efforts on a humble Hyundai Sonata.

However, they don’t plan on keeping the 2.4 litre engine stock. They already added a huge turbo and an intercooler. They have also rebuilt the block from the bottom up (meaning it now sports aftermarket pistons, conrods, sleeves, crankshaft, heads, valves…). Bisimoto announced a power output of 708 horsepower in this configuration, which is 523 more than what the car was supplied with. As a quick comparison, the Dodge Challenger Hellcat makes one less horsepower from a supercharged 6.2 litre V8 mill.

However, just like every other Bisimoto car, they have not backed up their power claim in any way whatsoever. So we will have to wait for this year’s SEMA (which opens on November 4th) to see if the tuner shop speaks the truth…
