Published on September 29, 2014 in Blog by Alain Morin

If ever there was a fast-growing market, it would definitely be that of compact SUVs under $40,000. Competition is fierce with most manufacturers offering a model in this segment.

The category winner is the 2014 Mazda CX-5. This well-designed vehicle offers above-average road handling, and engines that are both reliable and fuel-efficient. Second place goes to the 2014 Honda CR-V. It makes up for a lack of visual punch with outstanding reliability and very low fuel consumption. Finally, the bronze medal goes to the 2014 Ford Escape, which features an athletic 2.0-litre Ecoboost engine, superb styling and solid road holding.

Of course, there are plenty of others in the category! The first that come to mind are the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, 2014 GMC Terrain, 2014 Hyundai Tucson, 2014 Jeep Compass, Patriot and Wrangler, 2014 Kia Sportage, 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander and RVR, 2014 Nissan Rogue, 2014 Subaru Forester, 2014 Suzuki Grand Vitara, 2014 Toyota RAV4 and Volkswagen Tiguan.
