America’s Most Wanted Car

One of the oldest myths in the automotive world (apart from the one about the 100 MPG carburetor that the government stole from its inventor in the eighties) is that some cars are more susceptible to being stopped by the cops than others. We have proven using highly scientific methods (personal experience) that you will get ticketed equally whether you drive a sedan, a minivan, a red sports car or a pair of shoes.

However, Insurance.com just put up the results of research they did among their clients, and the results show that some types of drivers (the ones that drive more ‘’enthusiastically’’) are more susceptible to flock to certain makes and models.

America’s most wanted car is the Subaru WRX, 33.6% of all that are registered in the United States have received a ticket in the last year. Second place goes to the Pontiac GTO with 32.7%, and the bronze medal is awarded to the Scion FR-S, which saw 32.7% of its owners get stopped.

There are some interesting results: for example, the seventh spot is held by the Mercury Topaz (28.8%). The Ford Mustang is exactly in 100th place with 22.7%, while the Camaro is 257th. Even weirder: the car with the best ticket per driver ratio? The Dodge Viper. Only 5.3% of its owners were ticketed recently.
