Tesla Will Show Us The D
Naysayers can spout anything they want against Tesla and its charismatic founder Elon Musk, but the fact remains: this man knows how to market a product. Instead of being engulfed in the mountain of news coming from the Paris Auto Show, he decided to push back the reveal of Tesla's latest project by a week.
The only thing that Tesla leaked was this picture. Speculation is running wild, since the announcement could be about virtually anything: from a simple update to an all-new vehicle, anything is possible. So far, the most ludicrous ideas are a 'D'roptop version, a station wagon ('D'-pillar) or even a performance model, where D would be Tesla’s answer to BMW’s M and Lexus’ F.
However, the much more plausible option is that this car will be the new all-wheel drive Tesla Model S (D would stand for Dual, as in dual motors). We already know that the Californian manufacturer is working on such a system for its Model X crossover, so it would make sense to first test it out in the Model S.
Tesla’s announcement is scheduled for October 9.
