A Superleggera Viper For Sale

No doubt about it, the Dodge Viper is a monster of performance. The fourth generation of the car was powered by a 8.2L V10 mill sending 600 horsepower to the rear wheels, enabling the coupe to hit 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.6 seconds and eventually top out at 325 km/h. It was however not a slim vehicle, weighing in at 1570 kg in the base version. Those looking for a lighter version could always get the ACR model, which got rid of all the insulation and most of the amenities to get the weight down to 'only' 1564 kg.

If you want a lighter Viper, you will have to start making some hard choices, like: Do I really need that electric roof mechanism? What about the side mirrors? Or you could just buy this used example of the ‘’simplify, then add lightness’’ Viper that got seriously trimmed.

Available on Craiglist, this Viper from Oregon was involved in a front-end crash. The cosmetic parts were totalled, but the mechanical bits were untouched. The current owner bought if from the scrap yard that performed the surgeries on it: they sold all the bodywork. However, the seller mentions that everything left on the car is working well. Since it is a 2003, it ‘’only’’ makes 500 horsepower.

The possibilities for this chassis are endless, but our favorite one so far is to weld a few bars on it for structural rigidity (and ‘’safety’’) and then hit the local racetrack!
