The all-new Honda Insight hybrid will make its world debut next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, followed by its Canadian debut at the Montreal International Auto Show in mid-January. The five-passenger, five-door Insight is expected to be the most affordable hybrid car available when it goes on sale in the spring of 2009.

The Insight is expected to have annual global sales of 200,000 units per year - with approximately 100,000 in North America - and will utilize a new interactive, driver-focused fuel economy enhancement technology named the Ecological Drive Assist System (Eco Assist(TM)) to help drivers achieve enhanced fuel efficiency.

A leader in the development of cleaner, more fuel-efficient mobility products, Honda introduced to market the first mass-produced low-emission gasoline vehicles; North America's first commercially produced gasoline-electric hybrid car; and the first hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle - FCX - to be certified for use on public roads in the U.S.

Honda is committed to offering products with the highest environmental performance produced at vehicle assembly plants that have reduced environmental footprints. Honda is a leader in the development of leading-edge technologies to improve vehicle fuel efficiency and reduction of CO(2) emissions, including advanced fuel-efficient gasoline engines, gasoline-electric hybrids and hydrogen fuel cells.
