Here are the 2015 BMW X5/X6 M

Now that the next iteration of the BMW X5 and X6 are ready to be sold, the brand’s M division can reveal their idea of what these SUVs should be: the X5 M and X6 M. While they will be shown for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show, BMW has been kind enough to supply us with their specifications and a slew of images.

Let’s start with the main difference between the M versions and the more plebeian models: under the hood, both variants get a twin-turbo 4.4 litre V8 that pumps out 567 horsepower and sends its torque to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. This is enough to launch the trucks from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, a time even more impressive if you take the weight of the vehicles into consideration.

To visually set the X5/X6 M apart, they received unique bumpers, sideskirts and mirror covers, a sport exhaust (with unique quad tips) and 21-inch wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport UHP tires. Inside, we discover aluminium paddle shifters, a leather steering wheel stitched with the M colours and a roof liner made of Alcantara, among other things.

Those who like to brag about the on-track performance of their vehicle (even if they won’t ever go there themselves) will be happy to learn that each M truck comes with the M Servotronic steering system, a sport suspension that has been lowered by 10mm, huge brakes and a stability control system that features a Sport+ mode.

Canadian pricing will be announced shortly, but we already know that the BMW X5 and X6 M will hit dealerships next spring.
