A Mercedes-AMG SL63 To Celebrate The 2014 F1 Championship

After winning the 2014 Formula 1 championship outright with a 1-2 finish, Mercedes-AMG launched two commemorative editions of its SL63 AMG at its Stars & Cars event in Stuttgart.

They will be named the SL63 AMG World Championship 2014 Collector’s Edition (which is somewhat long to write on a badge) and will come in two different flavours: the matte black and gold car was designed by Lewis Hamilton, while the white SL with silver accents was created by his teammate Nico Rosberg. Each will be limited to 19 units, ensuring that the cars will appreciate in value.

This number has another significance: since the 2014 calendar had 19 races on it, each car will be adorned with one of the Grand Prix tracks. Each of the vehicles will also bear the signature of the driver who created it.

Other than those small cosmetic changes, the SL63 remains unchanged: it is still powered by a twin-turbo V8 pumping out 585 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, all sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

Pricing has not been mentioned, but they have probably already been sold to prominent Mercedes-Benz collectors who will store them until they can be sold for a profit.
