665 Horsepower In A GMC Yukon

We have already covered some of the cars modified by John Hennessey and his Texas based shop. From Ford Mustangs to Cadillac Escalades and various exotics, it seems that there is nothing that they can’t do. The team also builds their very own supercar (the Venom GT) and we can expect its successor, the F5, shortly.

The big 2015 GMC Yukon might not seem like the first choice when one is choosing a vehicle to modify, but it actually makes sense: under its wide hood sits a 6.2-litre V8, the same engine that was recently unveiled in the Corvette Stingray.

To add a few horsepower over the original 420, Hennessey added a 2.9-litre supercharger fitted with an intercooler, high-flow heads and a new camshaft.

As you can see in the above video, the results speak for themselves: with 665 horsepower and 658 pound-feet of torque, the Yukon Denali goes from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, and will run the quarter mile in 13.1 seconds. As a quick comparison, the 2015 Mustang GT covers the same distance in 12.8 seconds.
