No Honda Type R Here, But...

We are almost certain that the European Honda Civic Type R, with its 276 horsepower and manual transmission, won't be offered here.

However, a rumour from a colleague just gave us some hope; while we probably won't get the stylish little hatchback, there is a possibility that its engine (arguably the most interesting part of the car) will find its way inro a North American Civic.

In fact, there are two distinct versions of this rumour: The first says that the turbocharged mill will be found in a new version of the Civic. The Si would stay and keep its normally-aspirated four-cylinder, but we might get our own version of the Civic Type R.

The other rumour is a little weirder. According to some, the Type R engine could end up in the next iteration of the CR-Z. Since this car has not been modernized since 2011 (and its sales are stagnating), we hope that Honda has learned its lesson and will remove that ridiculous hybrid system from this nice little coupe to turn it into a real sport car.

If one of these rumours came true, it would give Honda a halo car, something that it has lacked for quite some time.
