The Montreal International Auto Show Is Starting Soon!

Published on January 2, 2015 in Montreal by Alain Morin

At the beginning of every new year, car lovers can look forward to a new edition of the Montreal International Auto Show. And 2015 is no exception!

Once again, the event will take place at Montreal’s Palais des Congrès. Visitors will be treated to a wide array of cars and much more.

Kia Childcare Centre

On the main floor, parents can leave their children in the hands of the professionals at the Kia Childcare Centre. The service is free for kids aged 3 to 10 years old. Fun is guaranteed in a safe environment.

Comedy Show

Everybody knows that Quebecers love a good laugh as much as a good car. That’s why the Montreal International Auto Show has partnered with Just for Laughs to present a comedy show on January 21 at Théâtre St-Denis. Centre stage will be given to none other than Quebec’s funniest car guy, Michel Barrette.

Performance Zone

Up on Level 5, performance buffs can come feast their eyes on the most spectacular vehicles on Earth. The Performance Zone will feature several modified cars worthy of an art gallery!

Test Drive Top Favourites

Looking at cars is fun, but driving them is even better! It all started with a Facebook contest in which fans of the Auto Show voted on which cars they most wanted to try out. We narrowed the list down to 11, which will be available for trials in the area immediately surrounding the Palais des Congrès. To be eligible for a Top Favourites test drive, you must be at least 25 years of age and carry a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance. Test drives will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on January 16 to 24, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on January 25. To sign up, visit the registration desk in the lobby on Level 2. You can even choose the time slot that suits you best!

Magnum MK5

Every year, the Auto Show shines the spotlight on one hot car. This year, it’s the homegrown Magnum MK5, designed by Quebec’s Bruno Saint-Jacques. This impressive two-seat race car meets all the standards for low-volume production vehicles (some 28 units will be produced annually in Boucherville), which means you’ll be able to drive it to the race track! It features a 250-horsepower four-cylinder in mid-rear position that can spin up to 11,000 rpm. This is more than enough to catapult the 545 kilogram (1,200 pound) car to 100 kilometres per hour in just 3.2 seconds and push it to a top speed of 240 kilometres per hour. The transmission is a six-speed sequential unit.

Win a free Volt!

A show wouldn’t be a show without a free giveaway to close the festivities. Like last year, one lucky visitor will take home a Chevrolet Volt!

The Car Guide

Last but not least, the Car Guide team will be at the event to advise you on your next automobile purchase. Or to talk about your current car. Or to talk about cars in general. Or even just to say hello!
