Saab Isn't Dead

Brand enthusiasts can sometimes go to extreme lengths to make sure their favourite manufacturer stays alive as long as they can.

When Saab went under, most of their dealerships closed. But one particular dealer in the New York region decided they weren't done selling Saabs.

First, they bought the customer list and parts inventory from closing rival dealerships. Since they were now overflowing with stuff, they bought a closing Suzuki dealership in New Jersey. Now, Park Avenue Saab is the reference for everything Saab in North America. They also sell used cars: their inventory  is full of lightly-used 9-3s and 9-5s.

Business is going great: so far, they have sold between 30 and 50 cars each month. Most of their customers come in with '80s or '90s Saabs and buy 9-3s that are a few years old. The garage is also very popular, logging between 600 and 700 hours each month. The management knows this business won't last forever: in a few years, even used vehicles will be too old to be repaired and sold at a profit. For now however, Saab enthusiasts can enjoy having a place where they can enjoy their favourite brand... Just like if the brand was still alive.
