RAM 1500 HFE: An Economical Truck?

Apart from the Rebel (an off-road truck with a different front end), RAM also unveiled the 1500 EcoDiesel HFE, which is their most economical truck yet.

As the name implies, the EcoDiesel HFE uses the 3 litre diesel engine that RAM has been (successfully) using for some time now. It is equipped with active grille shutters (which can open or close depending on the engine’s cooling needs) and a more aerodynamic bumper design. The full-length running boards and tri-fold tonneau cover serve two purposes: not only are they useful, they also help the truck’s aerodynamics.

These changes have netted some impressive results: the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel HFE boasts fuel economy numbers of 11.2L/100 km in city driving, and an impressive 8.1L/100 km on the highway.

Available as an optional group on the Tradesman in the double-cab configuration, this truck should be available shortly.
