Spotlight on the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Published on January 20, 2015 in Spotlight on by Sylvain Raymond

It nearly got named the Jeepster, but Jeep’s directors finally christened it the Renegade. It was designed by American and Italian engineers, which explains the use of the Fiat 500L/500X platform (although it has been modified for this purpose).

The small Jeep is the first to use the Small Wide 4x4 architecture. It comes from the factory with a Fiat MultiAir 1.4 litre turbocharged engine pumping out 160 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission. A 2.4 litre mill and a nine-speed automatic gearbox are also available. Thanks to its boxy looks, it boasts between 525 and 1,440 litres of interior space depending on whether you fold the rear seat or not.

We are driving the Renegade this week. Check out our full first drive review of the 2015 Jeep Renegade coupe here.
