2015 Volkswagen Golf R: We're Driving It This Week

Published on January 26, 2015 in Spotlight on by Benjamin Hunting

This week The Car Guide is in San Diego, California to drive the 2015 Volkswagen Golf R.  The Golf R represents the apex of compact performance for the Volkswagen brand, and the small hatchback offers nearly 300 horsepower from a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.  It also comes with standard all-wheel drive in order to help it reach 100 km/h from a standing start in just a few ticks over five seconds.

Transmission choices for the Golf R are initially restricted to a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual, but there's a traditional six-speed manual tapped to arrive later this summer.  Check back with us next week for a full report on the 2015 Volkswagen Golf R.  In the meantime, you can read our past coverage of this hot hatch here.
