2.1 Million Vehicles Recalled For A Different Airbag Problem

It seems that one of the most dangerous parts of a vehicle is, ironically, an accessory that was invented to protect the passengers in the event of a crash: after the disaster of the Takata case, where a Japanese airbag manufacturer was accused of hiding a potentially deadly defect, another problem has been discovered. More than 2.1 million vehicles are now recalled because of a different part of the airbag, one that might cause it to deploy even when there is no crash.

As you might imagine, this can be quite dangerous; if you are driving when it happens, you could be hurt and/or have an accident.

Even worse, some of the affected vehicles are also part of the Takata recall, which means that some cars are literally driving around with a ticking frag bomb right in front of the driver…

The list of affected vehicles includes:

Acura MDX, Dodge Viper, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Odyssey, Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix, Toyota Avalon and Toyota Corolla models built between 2002 and 2004.

If you own one of these vehicles, it is recommended that you check with your dealership to see if it is part of this latest recall.
