First Official Image Of The Next Audi R8

A few years ago, the Audi R8 completely revolutionized the supercar world, setting a benchmark not only because of its performance, but also in terms of reliability and ease of use. The car also gave Audi a spot in the high-performance world, with a halo-car that was capable of challenging the Italians (and its German rivals).

This means that the upcoming Audi R8 is important for the brand; even with a few updates over the years, the current model is long overdue for a refresh.

The next R8 will be launched in Geneva, but Audi has already sent us the first teaser shot of the car (there was also a spy shot of the car’s front, but the one showcased here is the one sent by the manufacturer). We can see that Audi’s proprietary LED headlight accents are back, and we can expect their laser headlights to be optional.

According to rumours, we can expect the 4.2-litre V8 to be phased out, which would mean that the 525-horsepower V10 would be the only mill available… for now. A new turbocharged powerplant will probably be offered later, and we can eventually expect a fully-electric version dubbed the e-tron.

We will learn more about the car on March 3rd at the Geneva International Motor Show.
