Fiat 500 Vintage '57: Good Old Times

A few manufacturers have tried to recapture the emblematic style of vehicles that left their mark on the automotive industry; from the Volkswagen Beetle to the Chrysler PT Cruiser, the Chevrolet HHR and the MINI, each had their own ideas about how to recreate the iconic images of their older models.

Fiat's approach has been one of the best, in my opinion. The 500 looks a lot like the original Cinquecento, and while its dimensions don't exactly match its predecessor's, it's still much smaller than many of the cars on the road today.

For the Geneva International Motor Show, the automaker will add a layer of retro to the 500; the Vintage '57 edition is going back to the era of dog-dish hubcaps and pastel paint.

The city car will feature 16-inch wheels that remind us of those used on the 1957 Cinquecento, a baby blue paint job with a contrasting white top and badges that feature the old Fiat logo. Inside, beige leather seats and a white dashboard add the finishing touches to the retro theme.

This model will be sold in Europe as early as next month. As for us, we will see it at the Geneva Motor Show and hope that FCA will offer it here.
