Mazda Starts MX-5 Production…And Delays The Mazda2

Published on March 6, 2015 in News by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

Two important news pieces were announced by Mazda yesterday: first of all, the first units of the brand’s iconic roadster, the MX-5, just rolled off the assembly line in Hiroshima. These first roadsters will be sold in Japan, and in the coming months the car will make its way to the rest of the world’s markets.

However, this good news was dampened by sadder info: it seems that the manufacturer has decided to delay the launch of the Mazda2 on the Canadian market. Mazda explained this decision by saying that since they are already launching two products this year (the MX-5 and the CX-3, which is a small crossover), they prefer to concentrate on those two important vehicles, and they will give the Mazda2 the attention it deserves next year. There is no exact launch date yet, but we will keep you posted as we get more information. Mazda told us we could expect more news in the coming months.
