45 Years Of The Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R might have been sold here for only a few short years, but it has quite a long history in its home country. In fact, the very-first GT-R was launched in 1969! In its few decades of existence, it went from a 160-horsepower RWD coupe with a 5-speed manual to a 600+ horsepower AWD monster (actually nicknamed Godzilla) with a twin-clutch automatic transmission.

The GT-R moniker has actually turned 45 years-old. It was not used continuously, though; between 1973 and 1989, there was no Skyline GT-R. Nevertheless, Nissan has decided to launch a special edition of the car.

It is easily recognizable by its golden paint scheme, which is the same as the one which adorned the 2001 Skyline GT-R M-Spec. Only 30 units will be available in North America.

Apart from the unique colour, each 45th anniversary GT-R will receive two identification plates, one next to the VIN and the other on the centre console. This special edition GT-R is based on the Premium model, and it will be sold for $102,770, which is only $1,000 more than the ‘’base model’’.
