‘’Teenager Mode’’ For The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

According to a study by the NHTSA, drivers between the ages of 16 and 19 are up to three times more likely to die in a car-related accident. Speed, but also lack of experience and driver distraction are the most common causes for these crashes.

Chevrolet is out to massively improve their cars' safety: we just learned that the upcoming 2016 Malibu was designed to be as safe as possible for your child with the addition of some new tech in the midsize sedan. This technology will be able to check on your kids even when they are away with your car!

GM already has a system that can limit access to the car’s features, top speed and radio volume if it is started with your child’s key, but this new tech goes even further: If the Malibu detects that your kid is driving, it will disable the radio until all seat belts are buckled, it will activate alarms if the speed goes over a set limit and it will prevent the deactivation of the traction control. Finally, it will be possible for you to check out the driver’s ‘’report card’’ on the vehicle’s screen. This menu will show the distance travelled, the number of times the speed limit was exceeded, when the ABS or automatic braking kicked in…

We will see the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu at the New York Auto Show.
