At the upcoming New York Auto Show, Mitsubishi will launch the latest iteration of its midsize SUV, the Outlander. To drum up interest in the meantime, they sent us a few teaser shots which you can see here.

The first thing we see is that this vehicle will be significantly different from the current Outlander; with its elongated headlights, chrome grille and fog light bezels, it’s easy to see that the vehicle has been designed using Mitsubishi’s previous concept cars as its inspiration. The manufacturer also points out that the 2016 Outlander will be the first vehicle from the brand to feature a new design language, which will later be applied to the rest of their lineup.

The rear is also more dynamic, with new lights which extend on to the hatch. Some of you may recognize various influences, most notably from the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Outlander should be brimming with new technologies; Mitsubishi is proud to announce that the SUV benefits from more than 100 engineering innovations.

The official unveiling of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander will be held on April 2nd at the New York Auto Show.
