The Bell Tolls For The XTS
Cadillac is currently reworking its entire lineup. After announcing their new nomenclature, which will be simpler and provide more information about the model’s position in the lineup (all models will use the CT prefix followed by a number; the higher said number is, the larger the car is supposed to be…), we learned that some models won’t be brought back.
The next car to suffer this fate will be the Cadillac XTS.

In case you were not familiar with the XTS, it’s the biggest, most luxurious vehicle from the manufacturer. However, this car is a stark contrast to the brand’s other offerings. While the ATS and CTS are made to rival German sedans like Mercedes-Benzes and Audis, the XTS is a relic of the old American sedans of yore; it’s heavy, comfortable and drives like it’s on a cloud. It comes with front-wheel drive as standard, but can be optioned with all-wheel drive.
With the arrival of the CT6, the manufacturer made the decision to not keep the XTS after the end of its cycle, somewhere in 2019. While this announcement won’t matter to a large majority of the population, it causes a problem for the funeral industry, which loses its de-facto hearse. This might mean that the proverbial last ride in a Cadillac could be seriously compromised…
