New Naming Scheme For Jaguar Land Rover
While the vehicles in the Jaguar Land Rover lineup are really tempting, some of their appellations are confusing, and it’s hard to understand which one sits at the top of the range. For example, the Jaguar XK is available in two flavours: the ‘’base-model’’ XKR and the XKR-S. A more track-focused version, the XKR-S GT, was also offered until recently.
See how confusing this can be? The R moniker was typically used for the fastest Jag, but here it’s basically the least-expensive model. We are not the only ones to bemoan this lack of clarity; more than a few clients have asked Jaguar Land Rover to simplify their lineup.
The manufacturer’s high-performance division, SVO, announced that they will now take action to help newcomers differentiate their offerings: the R-S and RS-GT monikers will be axed, top-of-the-line Jags will bear the R badges, and the quickest of them will be branded SVR (the first SVR vehicle, the Range Rover Sport, was launched recently).
We also learned that the next SVR will be the beautiful F-Type. A new nameplate will also be created to differentiate vehicles more adapted to off-road driving; they will be named SVX.
