A Porsche Test Centre In Atlanta

It’s usually pretty hard to drive a Porsche at the limit unless you go to a race track; you won’t be able to fully appreciate your 911 by simply mashing the throttle on the freeway.

In an effort to help owners push their German cars to the limit (while keeping their licenses), Porsche has opened its largest test centre in North America: located at the far end of the Atlanta Airport, the location features a 1.6 mile track which includes an off-road section, a skid pad, technical corners, a low-friction zone and the only kick-plate in North America; it is used to upset a vehicle’s handling by suddenly kicking it’s back end into the air.

To make sure the drivers are well-tended to, a 13,000 square-foot structure houses reunion centres and classrooms. A restaurant (the 356, named after the first vehicle to bear the Porsche badge) has also been opened.

This whole complex has cost more than $100,000,000; this isn’t a small sum, but it will allow Porsche enthusiasts and owners to test the limits of their vehicles in a controlled environment.
