Lamborghini Aventador SV Runs The Nürburgring In Less Than 7 Minutes

Typically, Lamborghini’s name isn’t associated with on-track performance. While the Italian bulls may be fast and powerful, the manufacturer never really invested in a dedicated race team or in engineering a vehicle designed to break lap records.

The arrival of the Aventador SV (full name: Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce) just changed that. The SV moniker means that this car is a lightened, more powerful and faster version of the already-fast Aventador.

With a reworked V12 capable of producing 750 horsepower and a 50 kg diet, we figured that the SV would be faster than the regular Aventador. Furthermore, with an aggressive body kit and new rear wing, the car is supposedly more stable at high-speed on the track.

And what better track to prove this than the infamous Nürburgring?

In the above video, we can see the SV flying through the Nordschleife's 160 turns and 22.8 km in 6:59.73, breaking the mythical 7-minute barrier by a hair.

As a reminder, the only other street-legal production vehicles to achieve this are the Radical SR8 and SR8 LM (racecars with headlights added to make them roadworthy) and the Porsche 918 Spyder.
