Jag’s CEO Doesn’t Think Customers Want Electric Cars Yet

The Automotive News Europe Congress was recently held in Birmingham, England. One of the speakers was Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar, who said that consumers simply do not want electric cars, at least at the moment.

While Mr. Speth thinks that one day they will be present en masse on our roads, currently the batteries that are at the heart of these vehicles are "still too heavy, too expensive and the density is too low."

However, Mr. Speth believes that the next generation of these batteries should outperform gasoline engines in terms of power and range. Jaguar is also working on hybrid systems for its cars.
